RAK Halfmarathon 2015

In spite of the usual cool, calm weather was at the 7am start. More than 2000 participants among others the world's best halfmarathon runners were gathering behind the white line.

This year the organizers changed the course a bit in order to reduce the number of corners to fasten the track.

Kenya's Mary Keitany continued her unbeaten streak after returning to racing last spring following a maternity break. She won the RAK Halfmarathon in a super-quick 1:06:02. Mamitu Daska from Ethiopia finished second, she was almost two minutes quicker than ever before, setting an Ethiopian record of 1:06:27. Cynthia Limo finish third with her personal best 1:07:02.

The men's race did not produce the sub-60 time expected, mainly due to a relatively sluggish opening 5km of 14:32 but the finish nevertheless was a thiller with Ethiopia's Mosinet Geremew winning a three-man battle for the line in 1:00:05. Daniel Wanjiru was second and Jonathan Maiyo third in 1:00:06 and 1:00:07.

The official electrical timer of the event was the Premier Timing team from the UAE in cooperation with the EvoChip Hungary and the Turkish Depar Timing.

Our services included among others the LIve internet results, TV Graphics, SMS results, Operation of a Finish Lynx photo finish camera, Certificate printing, and the operation of split timing points at 5,7,10,15, and 20km.

The event was timed with MyLaps ChampionChip technology.
